Bioequivalence

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001267

The state where two pharmaceutical products, typically a generic and a brand-name drug, exhibit comparable bioavailability when administered to the same individual under similar conditions. This means they deliver the active ingredient to the site of action at the same rate and extent. Bioequivalence studies compare parameters such as the area under the plasma concentration-time curve (AUC) and maximum plasma concentration (Cmax).
