Biotic ligand model
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001332
A predictive framework used in ecotoxicology to assess the toxicity of metals to aquatic organisms, considering the influence of water chemistry. It accounts for the competition between metal ions and other cations for binding sites on the organism's sensitive biological surfaces. This model provides a more accurate prediction of metal toxicity than traditional methods.
