Capsule

A solid oral dosage form in which a drug substance is enclosed within a hard or soft soluble shell. The shell is made from gelatin or other suitable polymers and is designed to dissolve in the gastrointestinal tract to release its contents. Hard-shell capsules consist of two telescoping pieces filled with dry powders or granules, whereas soft-shell capsules are single-piece, sealed units containing liquids or semisolids.
