Carcinogenicity
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001666
The ability of a chemical substance or a mixture of substances to induce cancer or increase its incidence following inhalation, ingestion, or dermal application. A substance is identified as a carcinogen through long-term animal bioassays and supported by mechanistic data or epidemiological studies in human populations. Regulatory bodies like the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classify agents based on the strength of evidence for their carcinogenicity.
