Cassavism

A neurological disorder resulting from chronic consumption of improperly processed cassava, which contains cyanogenic glycosides. These compounds release hydrogen cyanide upon hydrolysis, leading to cyanide poisoning. Symptoms often include spastic paraparesis, characterized by weakness and stiffness in the legs, and can also affect other neurological functions.
