Castration

The removal of the gonads, either the testes in males or the ovaries in females, resulting in the cessation of reproductive function and a reduction in sex hormone production. This procedure can be performed surgically or through chemical means. In males, it is also known as orchiectomy, and in females, as ovariectomy.
