Cerenkov radiation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001821
Electromagnetic radiation emitted when a charged particle moves through a dielectric medium at a velocity greater than the phase velocity of light within that medium. This light is typically in the blue or ultraviolet spectrum and forms a characteristic cone. It is used in particle detectors and for medical imaging applications.
