Cerenkov detector
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001819
A device designed to detect high-energy charged particles by observing the Cerenkov radiation they emit when traveling through a transparent medium faster than the speed of light in that medium. The radiation is emitted as a cone of light, which is then collected and amplified. These detectors are widely used in nuclear physics and astrophysics experiments.
