Collinear reaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002215
A chemical reaction where the centers of the reacting atoms or molecules are constrained to move along a single straight line during the entire reaction process. This simplified model is often used in theoretical chemical kinetics to study the dynamics of elementary reactions, particularly for atom-diatom collisions. While idealized, it provides insights into reaction mechanisms.
