Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002248
A congenital condition characterized by a gap or defect in one of the ocular structures, resulting from incomplete closure of the embryonic optic fissure during fetal development. The malformation can affect the iris, creating a keyhole appearance, or other parts of the eye like the retina, choroid, or optic disc. Its presence can be an indicator of prenatal exposure to certain teratogenic substances.
