Colony-stimulating factor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002249
A group of glycoproteins that regulate the proliferation, differentiation, and survival of hematopoietic progenitor cells in the bone marrow. These factors stimulate the production of specific types of blood cells, such as granulocytes and macrophages, in response to infection or inflammation. Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) is a common therapeutic agent used to increase white blood cell counts.
