Conventional mass
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002539
A standardized value for the mass of an object, defined as the mass of a reference weight of density 8000 kg/m³ that it balances in air of density 1.2 kg/m³ at 20 °C. This concept is used to simplify mass measurements in air, accounting for buoyancy effects without needing to know the exact density of the object or the air. It is specified by OIML Recommendation R 111.
