Cyanates

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002807

Salts and esters of cyanic acid, HO-C≡N, the organic esters carrying the group -O-C≡N, in which an oxygen atom links an organic group to the carbon of a cyano group. Potassium cyanate, KOCN, and phenyl cyanate, PhOCN, are examples. Organic cyanates are isomers of the isocyanates, R-N=C=O, and some, such as allyl cyanates, rearrange to them.
