Degree of branching
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002943
A parameter describing how fully a hyperbranched polymer is branched, equal to 1 when it contains no linear or semi-dendritic repeating units and 0 for a linear chain. A widely used form is 2D divided by the sum of 2D and L, with D and L as the proportions of dendritic and linear units in the polymer. A dendrimer has a value of 1, but so can an irregular hyperbranched polymer, because the measure ignores symmetry.
