Degree of degradation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002945
A quantitative measure of the extent to which a polymer material has undergone chemical or physical changes that lead to a deterioration of its properties. This can involve chain scission, crosslinking, or oxidation, resulting in reduced molecular weight or mechanical strength. It is often assessed by monitoring changes in molecular weight, mechanical properties, or chemical composition over time.
