Detrivorous

Describing an organism that feeds on detritus, which is non-living organic matter. These organisms, known as detritivores, include many bacteria, fungi, and invertebrates like earthworms and millipedes. By consuming and breaking down dead material, they contribute to decomposition and the recycling of nutrients within an ecosystem, and they can also accumulate pollutants present in the detritus.
