Dilatometer

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003211

An instrument used to measure changes in the volume of a material as a function of temperature or pressure. It operates by detecting the expansion or contraction of a sample, often immersed in a fluid, within a precisely calibrated chamber. Dilatometry is employed to determine thermal expansion coefficients, phase transitions, and glass transition temperatures of polymers.
