Dilatometry

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003212

A technique for measuring the change in volume of a substance as a function of temperature, pressure, or time. The measurement is performed in a device called a dilatometer, which records volume expansion or contraction. This method is applied to polymers to study phase transitions, such as the glass transition or melting, and to determine coefficients of thermal expansion.
