Eddy dispersion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003571
The spreading of a pollutant plume in the atmosphere due to turbulent eddies, which are irregular, swirling motions of air. This process causes the dilution and mixing of contaminants over a larger volume. The rate of eddy dispersion is influenced by atmospheric stability and wind shear.
