Effluent

A stream of liquid or gas discharged from a process, often containing dissolved or suspended substances. This discharge can originate from industrial operations, wastewater treatment plants, or natural systems. The composition of an effluent is subject to environmental regulations, such as those set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the United States.
