A localized and identifiable origin from which pollutants are discharged into the environment. This source can be a pipe, ditch, channel, tunnel, well, discrete fissure, container, or concentrated animal feeding operation. Examples include industrial discharge pipes or sewage treatment plant outfalls, which are regulated under environmental protection laws.
