Point of zero charge

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009063

The condition at which the net surface charge density of a solid particle in contact with an electrolyte solution is zero. At this point, the surface possesses an equal number of positive and negative charge sites, resulting in no net electrical charge. This parameter, often expressed as a pH value for aqueous systems, is determined experimentally through methods like potentiometric titration or electrokinetic measurements.
