Point mutation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009062
A type of gene mutation where a single nucleotide base in the DNA or RNA sequence is altered. This alteration can involve the substitution of one base for another, or the insertion or deletion of a single base pair. Such mutations can lead to changes in the amino acid sequence of a protein, potentially affecting its function.
