Deletion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002971
A type of mutation in a deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) sequence where one or more nucleotide base pairs are removed from the genetic material. This can range from a single base pair to large segments of a chromosome. Deletions can significantly alter the protein product, potentially leading to genetic disorders or changes in biological function.
