Isoelectric point
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006181
The specific pH at which a particular molecule or surface carries no net electrical charge. For amphoteric molecules like amino acids, it is the pH where the concentration of zwitterions is maximized and the molecule's net charge is zero. At this pH value, the electrophoretic mobility of the species is zero, causing it to cease migration in an electric field.
