Isoelectric focusing

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006180

A high-resolution electrophoretic technique that separates proteins or peptides based on their isoelectric points (pI). Molecules migrate through a pH gradient in an electric field until they reach the position where their net charge is zero, at which point they stop moving. This method is often the first dimension in two-dimensional gel electrophoresis.
