Eosinophil chemotactic factor of anaphylaxis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004008
A substance released from mast cells and basophils during an immediate hypersensitivity reaction, such as anaphylaxis. This factor specifically attracts eosinophils, a type of white blood cell, to the site of the allergic inflammation. The primary components identified with this activity are a group of acidic tetrapeptides, including Ala-Gly-Ser-Glu and Val-Gly-Ser-Glu, which act as potent chemoattractants for eosinophils.
