Eotaxin
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004009
A specific type of chemokine that acts as a potent and selective chemoattractant for eosinophils, drawing them from the bloodstream into tissues. Eotaxins bind to the CCR3 receptor, which is highly expressed on the surface of eosinophils, mediating their migration and activation. The human genome contains three distinct eotaxin genes: eotaxin-1 (CCL11), eotaxin-2 (CCL24), and eotaxin-3 (CCL26), all of which are implicated in allergic diseases like asthma.
