Epiblast

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004014

The outermost layer of cells in an early-stage embryo, situated above the hypoblast. During gastrulation, cells from the epiblast migrate and differentiate to form all three primary germ layers: the ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm. This process establishes the fundamental body plan from which all tissues and organs of the fetus will develop.
