Primitive streak
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009462
A transient structure that forms in the early embryo during gastrulation, marking the beginning of germ layer formation. It appears as a thickened band of cells on the dorsal surface of the epiblast. Cells migrate through the primitive streak to form the endoderm and mesoderm, establishing the body axes.
