Equilibration

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004053

The process by which a system reaches a state of equilibrium, where the rates of forward and reverse processes become equal, and the net change in concentrations or properties ceases. In liquid-liquid distribution, this involves the establishment of a stable distribution of solutes between two immiscible phases. The time required for equilibration depends on factors such as mixing efficiency and the kinetics of mass transfer.
