Steady state
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011348
A condition in a system where all macroscopic properties, such as concentrations, temperatures, or pressures, remain constant over time, even though microscopic processes may still be occurring. In a chemical reaction, this implies that the rates of formation and consumption of intermediates are equal. This differs from equilibrium, where net change ceases.
