Equivalent hydrodynamic volume
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004080
The volume occupied by a hypothetical hard sphere that possesses the same hydrodynamic properties as a macromolecule in solution. This value is often determined from chromatographic measurements, such as size-exclusion chromatography. It reflects the effective size of a polymer chain, including any associated solvent molecules, as it moves through a fluid.
