Extender
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004261
A substance added to a polymer formulation to reduce its cost, improve certain properties, or increase its bulk. Extenders are typically low-cost, inert materials that do not react chemically with the polymer matrix. Common examples include calcium carbonate, talc, and clay, which can also modify rheological behavior.
