Fermi level splitting
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004380
The separation of the quasi-Fermi levels for electrons and holes in a semiconductor under non-equilibrium conditions, such as illumination. This occurs when the electron and hole populations are not in thermal equilibrium with each other. The magnitude of the splitting is related to the photovoltage generated in a semiconductor device.
