Flash lamps
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004473
Gas-discharge lamps that produce brief, intense pulses of broad-spectrum light by passing a high-current electrical discharge through an inert gas. The gas, such as xenon or krypton, is contained in a sealed tube and ionizes to form a plasma when the current is applied. These lamps are used as excitation sources in fluorescence and phosphorescence spectroscopy.
