Flash photolysis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004474
A technique for studying short-lived chemical intermediates and transient species generated by a brief, intense pulse of light. A sample is irradiated with a powerful flash, creating a high concentration of excited states or photoproducts, which are then monitored using a spectroscopic method. Modern systems use lasers for the excitation pulse, achieving time resolutions from nanoseconds to femtoseconds.
