Formamidine disulfides

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004596

Compounds having the general structure H2N-C(=NH)-S-S-C(=NH)-NH2 and their N-substituted derivatives. The molecule features a disulfide bond linking the carbon atoms of two separate formamidine moieties. These substances are formed by the oxidation of thioureas and are also known as thiourea disulfides or, more systematically, bis(aminomethanimidoyl) disulfide.
