Fraction collector
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004626
A device used in chromatography to automatically collect the effluent (the mobile phase leaving the column) into a series of separate containers like test tubes or vials. The collection process is controlled based on time, volume, or a detector signal, such as UV absorbance, to isolate different components of the mixture as they elute. Modern collectors are programmable and hold hundreds of tubes in a carousel or rack.
