Gastric parietal cell

A specialized epithelial cell located in the gastric glands of the stomach lining. It is responsible for secreting hydrochloric acid (HCl) and intrinsic factor into the stomach lumen. The acid secretion is regulated by histamine, acetylcholine, and gastrin, and can lower stomach pH to between 1.5 and 3.5.
