Autoimmune gastritis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000973
A chronic inflammatory condition of the stomach lining caused by the immune system attacking its own parietal cells. This leads to a loss of intrinsic factor and hydrochloric acid production, resulting in vitamin B12 deficiency and pernicious anemia. It is often associated with the presence of anti-parietal cell antibodies.
