Group electronegativity
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005038
A measure of the electron-withdrawing or electron-donating ability of a substituent group within a molecule. It quantifies the tendency of a group to attract electrons towards itself when bonded to another atom. This concept extends the idea of atomic electronegativity to polyatomic fragments and influences bond polarity and chemical reactivity.
