Hard amorphous carbon films
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005100
Thin films of carbon that exhibit high hardness, low friction, and chemical inertness, lacking long-range crystalline order. These films are often deposited using techniques like plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition or sputtering. They are widely used as protective coatings on tools, medical implants, and magnetic storage devices due to their diamond-like properties.
