Healthy worker effect
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005141
A phenomenon observed in occupational epidemiology where the mortality or morbidity rates of an employed population are lower than those of the general population. This occurs because individuals who are healthy enough to work are generally healthier than those who are unemployed due to illness or disability. The effect can bias epidemiological studies if not accounted for in the analysis.
