Heteronuclear single quantum multiple-bond correlation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005266

A two-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiment that correlates the chemical shift of a proton with the chemical shift of a heteronucleus, such as carbon-13, to which it is coupled over two or more bonds. This technique is used to establish long-range connectivity within a molecule, providing structural information beyond direct attachments. The experiment relies on scalar coupling constants, which are typically smaller for longer-range interactions.
