Holoprosencephaly
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005344
A congenital disorder resulting from the failure of the embryonic forebrain, or prosencephalon, to divide into two distinct cerebral hemispheres. This structural malformation of the brain leads to a spectrum of defects in the development of the face and brain structure. The severity ranges from alobar, where there is no separation, to lobar, where there is considerable separation of the hemispheres but with some fusion.
