Holoenzyme
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005343
A biochemically active compound formed by the combination of an apoenzyme (the protein component) and a coenzyme or cofactor (a non-protein component). This complete and functional enzyme complex is capable of catalyzing a specific biochemical reaction. Without the cofactor, the apoenzyme typically lacks catalytic activity.
