Hormesis

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005394

A dose-response phenomenon characterized by a low-dose stimulation and a high-dose inhibition, resulting in a biphasic curve. This effect suggests that certain substances or stressors can be beneficial at low concentrations but detrimental at higher concentrations. Examples include low levels of radiation or certain toxins that can induce adaptive responses in biological systems.
