Hot ground state reaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005407
A chemical reaction that occurs from a vibrationally excited state of the ground electronic state of a molecule. This excitation is achieved through rapid internal conversion from an electronically excited state, followed by insufficient time for vibrational relaxation before reaction. Such reactions are characterized by their high internal energy content, which can lead to different reaction pathways compared to thermally equilibrated ground state reactions.
