Hydronation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005478
The addition of a hydron (H+) to a substrate. This process increases the number of hydrons attached to the substrate and is a fundamental step in many acid-base reactions and organic reaction mechanisms. It is the reverse of deprotonation, where a hydron is removed from a molecule.
